Santa Cruz Boardwalk parking fills by 11am; take a shuttle from the free overflow lot on 7th Avenue. Pier 39 + Aquarium of the Bay see 60–90 min walk-in waits — book timed-entry tickets online before you go.

Crissy Field, Fort Mason, and the Ferry Building are all walkable from Embarcadero or Civic Center BART. Holiday weekend Bay Bridge traffic adds 30–90 minutes each way — BART makes it a 20-minute trip. Take the PresidiGo shuttle from downtown to Crissy if walking is too far.

If the weather turns foggy (it will in September), Chabot is the move: planetarium shows, real NASA artifacts, and a 36-inch telescope tour. Oakland locals' secret — rarely crowded even on holiday weekends. Walk across to the adjacent Redwood Regional Park trails after.
